About
Witchcraft (from the Covenant of the Goddess)
This website on the modern-day
practice/religion of witchcraft includes
information on the basic philosophy, the
historical roots of many common practices
in modern-day witchcraft, holidays, and
more. One nice feature (done in cooperation
with Amazon.com) is an extensive bibliography
of books on witchcraft. Don't forget that
even out-of-print books can often be found
for you by your public library.
Practical Magic: witchy movie site with
an online "practical tarot"
Whether or not you liked the movie,
you might want to visit this site for three
reasons: 1) the sheer intricacy of the site,
with its sophisticated, easy-to-navigate
structure, attractive graphics and animations,
and mysteriously chiming music (you'll want
to create your own website or revamp the
one you've already done), 2) the introduction
to Alice Hoffman, a must-read author for
anyone who likes supernatural fiction, and
3) the "Practical Tarot," that allows you
to read your own tarot cards online.
The
Salem Witch Museum
A virtual tour through an actual
museum in Salem, Massachusetts. The discussion
of "Haunted Happenings," an annual event
in Salem, will make you want to visit the
actual museum in October! Other sections
provide photos, information on the famous
trials, and more.
Salem
Witchcraft Hysteria
This site by National Geographic
Interactive provides information on the
salem witchcraft trials in the 17th century,
allowing you to take a heavily illustrated
virtual journey through the tumult of that
time. Considering all that's here, this
site loads incredibly quickly! Nice extras
include a witchy "Greetings from Salem"
electronic postcard that you can send, the
chance to ask a leading historian of the
Salem witch trials questions online, and
even a travel-guide to modern-day Salem,
Massachusetts.
This
site serves as a gateway to web pages on the religions
Voodoo and/or Santeria. Links include the
homepage of the New Orleans Voodoo Museum,
Santeria as practiced in Cuba and New York, Haitian-style
Voodoo, information on the infamous practioner
Marie Laveau, an extensive alphabetical index
to all aspects of Voodoo, and much, much more.
